NAME Amaltheia (A-mil-theea- nickname- Theia; The'ea)
GENDER Mare
AGE 4 Years
ALLIANCE Neutral
APPEARANCE A buckskin mare with a small white star on her forehead, black points and three small socks- one both forefeet and right hind. Is surely part Arabian as Theia holds her tail up high, and her snout is slightly dished- her nostrils often flared and large. She carries a little extra weight around her midriff, but is overall very gorgeous, and has large portions of warmblood and thoroughbred in her breed, and has nice, long legs.
PERSONALITY Theia is the kind of mare who trusts people instantly, unless they either give her a reason not to, or her will to survive kicks in. She can be quick, but is a intelligent mare, but her knowledge of the world is rather limited. The buckskin has a good sense of humor, and if it came to fighting to protect something she loves, she might, but cringes away from the thought of harming anything. She adores foals, and her heart is an easy place to get into if you are a stallion- she has no reservations and if you seem sweet, you can con her into things. The mare tends to think herself rather plain, and therefore would never strike up a relationship with a stallion, and can be a little self conscious and shy. How ever, she has quirky sides. The thought of being forced into anything makes her squeal, kick out, bite, and generally turn nasty. The mare has an irrational fear of goats, despite her name, and she can be mildly distrustful of large black stallions, for no particular reason. A horse equivalent of a germ-a-phobe, she fears getting filthy, and sharing strange horses breath, and likes to live as cleanly as she can.
HISTORY AMALTHEIA was the she-goat (or, according to some, Nymph) nurse of the god Zeus who nourished him with her milk in a cave onMount Ida in Krete. When the god reached maturity he created his thunder-shield (aigis) from her hide and the horn of plenty from her crown. Theia was born in a plain, dull herd southwest of Flaming Passions. She lived there till she was one. Her father, a rather harsh, cold, sexist stallion, bartered with a nearby system of horses- giving then Theia in return for a few older, extremely strange, mares. In her new home she was put to use, for a few years before, most of the herds mares had been wiped out with a sickly disease- and those that survived, who were pregnant, did not survive the foaling of their babies. The offspring was malformed, deformed, and their intelligence levels, as well as levels of awareness, were low. The lead stag, father of all the five extremely sickly foals, was a very kind hearted stead, could not let his children simply die. From hence forth he had tried to get mares into the herd to feed his ailing children, but most didn't stay, and too sweet for force them, they quickly left to find a more normal place. Theia was the same age as the tiny horses, but they had no where near her mental capacity, and were little sick things, extremely frail. Even from such a young age she had an incredible mothering urge, and took in these offspring and tried to make them better. She was friends with them all, like a mother to their incomprehensible brains, and the lead stallion also began to develop emotions for her. Happy with her family, she came in foal to the stallion, at age three and a half. Unfortunately, she miscarried, which was a tough blow. Not long after then, a strange cold came across the land, and wiped the beloved five, and still extremely feeble, horses who she had become mother to. Unable to face the memories of the thin, but undeniably beautiful and getting better, foals of "hers", she fled, also fearing the valley was cursed. She left behind the stallion she loved, but every touch of his, every comfort, made her think of both the baby out of her own womb she lost, and the ailing colts and fillies she had unconsciously adopted as her own.
