THESE VIOLENT DELIGHTS
Warlander (Andalusian x Friesian)
NAME Pyracantha
GENDER Mare
AGE 3 years
BREED
HEIGHT Currently 16.2hh, mature to 17hh
ALLIANCE Neutral
APPEARANCE Silver bay. As well as her unusual colour, there is a number of white birdcatcher spots that litter her torso and a piece of dead, withered pyracantha (aka firethorn) tangled in her unruly forelock. Her dark brown eyes are just a tad darker than her base coat colour.
PERSONALITY She's quite the tomboy. While other mares may spend their time flirting and bitching their way into power, she's one to negotiate or maybe battle. Outside she's an efficient and no-nonsense girl, but inside that tough side there's something more delicate and feminine. Emotionally she is actually quite fragile and naive, and as much as she tries to cover it up, there's always that soft Pyra that can come out during times of weakness. She can act as an older sister to estranged foals and a loyal friend to those in need.
HISTORY She was born wild, to a father that was a slave driver and a mother raped for her insolence. Meya, her mother, the previous queen of the land that had lost everything when her mate Tank disappeared, dismayed to find she was pregnant started to hide in the shadows. She was not ashamed of the foal swimming in her womb, in fact seeing it a second chance at being a mother. Her first child, Hyperion, had too left the lands along with it's father. At the sight of the feeble foal stuggling to stand up it gave Meya strength to stand up and face Echo, her slave driver. She named the filly Pyracantha, the growth that was common around the land. Her father, though easily angered and abusive to her palomino dam, was not unkind to foals and he allowed Pyra to be a commoner instead of a slave foal. Meya, though glad to see her daughter safe and out of chains, was jealous to see Echo's numerous foals in a much better position than her own child. She challenged Echo for both her freedom and Pyracantha's. he backed down, thoroughly tired of her obnoxious manner towards him and figuring she wasn't worth fresh wounds on his body. She didn't stay long after that. Meya was happier and not so over-protective of her daughter, and they drifted apart shortly after, as nature did to every mother and child.
Pyracantha then found a couple travelling buddies - two colts and a handful of clueless young mares. The two young stallions were eager for her to join the "herd" they had created, but she made it clear there would be no long-term plans. She, however, was a strong advisor, exceedingly cunning for her age.
When the flood came, it was she who led the terrified band to high ground. Despite her navigatory skills, two fillies became too far behind and one of the stallions elected to double back and find them while the rest of them waited. They never came back, and were presumed drowned. With their time limited, the rest of the herd climbed the highest peak they could find and camped out until the rain stopped. All of them experienced symptoms of pnuemonia, hypothermia and chest infections. One more filly died and though the remainding stallion survived, it was clear he was traumatised and possibly brain-damaged from illness. Pyracantha cleared out as soon as it was dry enough, to return back to FP.

Hey, some of you might remember me, and her, from the original site =) She was called Athena back then, but I decided it was too common. Just to re-jog your memory, she was the daughter of my first character Meya.
